First: What Is Actually Broken?

An iPhone screen is a sandwich of layers, and which layer is damaged decides the repair. If the glass is cracked but the picture and touch work perfectly, only the outer glass and digitiser layer is gone. If you see black blotches, coloured lines or a dead area, the OLED or LCD panel beneath has failed. And if the screen is black but the phone vibrates and rings, the display or its connection has failed entirely, which sometimes means the fault is on the board, not the screen at all. That is why we diagnose before we quote: replacing a screen never fixes a board fault.

The Three Screen Grades, Honestly Explained

When you book a screen with us you choose a grade, and the difference is real, not marketing.

GradeWhat it isBest for
Soft OLEDHigh-quality aftermarket OLED. Excellent colour, true blacks, responsive touch.Best value for most people
Hard OLEDPremium rigid OLED panel, brighter and more rigid, closest to original feel.Heavy daily users
Genuine AppleOriginal Apple display, identical to factory. Preserves ProMotion on Pro models.Newer Pro models, resale value

Every grade keeps Face ID, True Tone and auto-brightness working, because we transfer your original sensors across during the repair.

What It Costs in Rochdale

Screen repairs at The Mobile People start from £49 for older models, with exact pricing depending on your model and chosen grade. You will always see the full price in our booking tool before you commit, and every screen carries a 12-month warranty with no fix, no fee.

Why DIY Kits Usually End Badly

The kits online look tempting, but iPhones fight back: adhesive that needs controlled heat, flex cables that tear if the screen is lifted at the wrong angle, and on newer models, screens that are serial-paired to the phone. The most common DIY casualties we repair are torn Face ID flexes, which are irreplaceable without major work, and cracked OLED panels that survived the drop but not the removal. A £20 saving can become a £150 repair.

Tip: if your cracked screen still works, put a tempered glass protector over it. It stops glass splinters and keeps the crack from spreading until the repair.

How Our Repair Works

Walk into our shop in the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre or book online. We test the phone with you, confirm the grade and price, and fit the screen while you wait, typically 30 to 60 minutes. Before you leave we test touch, True Tone, Face ID and cameras together. If anything related to our repair fails within 12 months, we fix it free.

Aftercare

Give the adhesive a few hours before heavy pressure or cases with tight edges, fit a screen protector (we fit them properly, no bubbles), and avoid extreme heat for the first day. That is it, the screen is yours to forget about.
