Taps ignored, dead strips, or a phone that types by itself. Touch faults live in the screen assembly and are fixed from £29.99, usually while you wait at the shop.
Touch problems follow patterns, and each one tells us something specific.
A band or corner that ignores every tap means the touch layer has torn there, even when the glass above looks perfect.
Book now →The phone tapping and typing on its own is a failing touch layer or moisture on the display connector. Unnerving, and very fixable.
Book now →Intermittent touch points at a connection rather than a dead panel, which is the better kind of news.
Book now →A perfect picture that ignores you entirely is classic digitiser failure. The assembly needs replacing as one unit.
Book now →The touch sensor is a fine grid bonded inside the screen sandwich, and it fails three ways: torn by impact even without visible cracks, corrupted by moisture bridging its connections, or disturbed at the connector by a drop or a previous repair. One less obvious cause we see regularly at the counter: cheap petrol-station chargers. Their noisy power output interferes with touch sensing, and the phone goes haywire only while plugged in. That one costs the price of a decent cable to fix, and we will happily tell you so.
Touch faults needing a new assembly start at £29.99 fitted, and connection reseats cost far less.
We rule out the free fixes first: a forced restart, a badly fitted screen protector, that charger. Genuine hardware faults get the display assembly replaced, since touch and picture are one bonded part on modern phones, and then we test the whole surface with a drawing-grid check that exposes any dead spots a quick tap test would miss. Most jobs are done while you wait in the Exchange.
The touch layer sits under the glass and can tear from a knock that leaves the glass perfect. Looks fine, needs the same repair as a smashed one.
Not haunted, interference. Usually a cheap charger or a degrading screen. Bring the charger in with the phone and we will identify which in minutes.
It will shorten to an hour, then minutes. An intermittent connection is a cheap fix now and a dead screen later, so now is the better deal.
Most touch repairs are while-you-wait, 30 to 60 minutes for the common models.
